Background Redesign

To celebrate the blog going down to two posts a week, Mondays and Thursdays, I have also spent some time developing a new procedural background with a new official colour scheme for the blog. Wow!

The background, whose OpenProcessing page is here, takes in the effects known as domain warping ala Melted Dreams. It took quite a lot of trial and error to get these exquisite filaments as shown. These effects are applied to horizontal/diagonal lines, as described in Contour Maps, that meet in an arrowhead in the centre.

And then, some actually useful news. I have reordered all posts on the blog with simpler labels, so now each post has just one, rarely two, labels. The labels are as follows:
  • Art - Abstract generation with aesthetics in focus
  • Country Maps - Maps of countries and political regions
  • Linguistics - Language and text generation
  • Neural Nets - Evolution of behaviour
  • Other - Miscellaneous projects, big and small
  • PokeHearth - A collectible card game based on Pokémon inspired by Hearthstone
  • Structures - Generation of buildings, cities, dungeons
  • Terrain - Maps of terrain, heightmaps and their coloration
  • Blog Update
The blog at present has 83 posts, only twenty of which are about PokeHearth, meaning there are at least 60 posts worth reading. So choose your favourite topic above and dig in!
